NEWS AND EVENTS

The Institute of Green Professionals has numerous opportunities for you to highlight your original research, your unique project or experience, your green product, trends, legislation, sustainability service or corporation. The works should be timely, informative, and presented in clear language that is understandable across disciplines.

We are looking for academics or professionals to serve as authors for our Newsletter, Web site features, and other materials.

The qualifications are simple. You are a recognized expert in a subject area of IGP such as the professional disciplines, the natural, physical and social sciences, the public or private sectors or the nongovernmental organizations whose work focuses on some aspect of the environment.

Significant Benefits in Writing for Us

  1. Your work will reach a transdisciplinary audience.
  2. Your scholarly and/or professional visibility and credibility is enhanced.
  3. You will be part of a publishing model that is changing the world of professional and scholarly publication.
  4. Your work becomes an important contribution to our global knowledge.
  5. Your professional and/or academic networks will expand.

Guest Editorials are prominent people involved in the transdisciplinary community of sustainability researchers, practitioners and corporations that are invited to write for us.

Articles are invited that focus on topics of broad impact, cross-disciplinary, uses of new techniques or technologies, new approaches to old problems, or practical applications for sustainable solutions. These articles are 2,500 words or less, excluding references. All graphics must be accompanied by informative captions, and photographs must have appropriate copyright information.

Book Reviews are encouraged. When a book review is submitted we will attempt to assemble at least one additional commentary in order to provide readers with a range of viewpoints.

Letters of up to 300 words are invited. The letters will be brief and sharply focused responses to Guest Editorials, Articles or Letters. IGP Letters are a moderated forum where all responses are read, edited if necessary, and approved by the editorial staff before they are posted.

Writing and Style Guidelines

IGP generally follows the recommendations of The Chicago Manual of Style (http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org). We expect authors to submit their manuscripts written in clear language that is understandable across disciplines.

Reference Style

References should be cited in the text as name and year and listed at the end of the paper alphabetically.

Format and Graphics Style
  •          Only Microsoft Office Word documents will be accepted.
  •          Graphics must be embedded in the Word document.
  •          No 3D graphics.
  •          Comparison charts should be constructed on parallel scales.
  •          Avoid using colored type.
  •          Type over a colored background should be in bold face.
  •          Do not use grayscale or similar patterns or colors that may blur together upon reduction.

Editorial Policies

Our editors will not disseminate material when:

  1. It is considered to have no discernable and unique benefit to the advancement of knowledge; and/or
  2. When it has the potential to harm the health or moral character of individuals, of human society at large, or the environment; and/or
  3. The harmful nature of some content must be affirmed, or likely to be affirmed, by the majority of the world’s educated population.

IGP recognizes that with diverse topics on the environment and sustainability, there may be uncertainties in data, interpretation, and understanding, as well as other reasons for different perspectives on a subject. However, in the interests of encouraging the broadest possible participation and in the interest of assisting people in making up their own minds about controversial issues, IGP shall be strongly disposed to include rather than to exclude content.
