The time to complete each course will vary with your learning pace and prior topic knowledge.
For the Specialty Courses, many course/exam takers come to the topic with a significant amount of knowledge and experience. Alternately, there are others that are new to the specialty. However, based upon a one-semester graduate-level course and reports from prior course-takers, 18 to 36 hourse is estimated to complete a course.
For Members (MIGP, FIGP, Associates), the cost of the General Comprehensive Course, examination and the one (1) required specialty course and its examination is included in the membership dues. The cost of the required text book(s) for each course is not included. Be sure to read the Failed Examination Policy (below).
The cost of any additional Specialty Course(s) examination beyond the one (1) required Specialty Course is $50 USD.
The public, upon request, will be provided with course outlines at no cost. Examinations are not available to non-Members or Student Associates.

Upon successful completion of the General Comprehensive Examination the appropriate specialty course Study Guide will be emailed to you.
All examinations are multiple choice questions.
All courses are self-paced and examinations are open-book.
Examination participants cannot exit and resume the exam later.
Examinations are not open to the public – access is restricted to Members and a personalized invitation will be provided by IGP to each exam participant.
Once logged-on to take an examination you cannot log off and come back at a later date/time.
After the earlier of completing the exam or the maximum allowable exam completion time has expired, the examination will automatically be graded.
After logging off the examination will automatically be graded, whether you completed it or not.
Examination participants can go back to prior pages and change previous answers.
IGP utilizes HostedTest™ for its online testing.
Members are provided with a unique personal invitation and secure link to access each examination.
All examinations allow a maximum of four (4) hours to complete the examination at one sitting.
A grade of 70% or greater is required to pass all examinations.
An examination “Pass/Fail” will be provided immediately upon completion of each examination.
The cost of all retake examinations is $50.00. Invitations to retake examinations will be provided upon email request and verification of payment of the retake fee.
In the event that any examination is failed a second (2nd) time, it can be retaken no sooner than three (3) months from the date of the most recent failed examination.
